Sinner Rejects Answering Invasive Personal Question After Kiss With Girlfriend Kalinskaya

by Zachary Wimer

Jannik Sinner has been publicly dating fellow player Anna Kalinskaya for a while now, but he's been very private about the relationship as he tends to keep his private life out of the public eye.

Tennis players spend much of their time in the spotlight, and it's why most tend to keep their private lives private. It's not a rule, but generally, they like to separate their career and personal lives a little bit because their career is already too public.

Sinner isn't the most secretive tennis player, even though he's been one of the more private players. However, in recent months, he's been quite forthcoming about being in a relationship with fellow player Kalinskaya.

He hasn't always been as open about these things, but he's shown more personality recently, which will benefit his career in the long term. Even so, old habits die hard.

When he shared a warm embrace with Kalinskaya after his US Open win over Taylor Fritz, questions followed. He was asked a two-part invasive question during an interview with Ubitennis, as per Daily Express.

He dedicated the victory to his aunt, who had been battling health issues lately, and the reporter asked him the name of his aunt in the first part of the question and then about the kiss he shared with his girlfriend after the match.

"Jannik, forgive me for asking this. Italians want to know the first name of your aunt to whom you dedicated your victory. And then, you are aware that the whole world saw the kiss (with Kalinskaya), are you happy about that?"

Sinner wasn't too amused with either question and for obvious reasons. The first part of the question was deeply personal and quite invasive, and it didn't make any sense.

Sinner saw right through that one and simply said that he wasn't going to answer either question.

"I don't want to answer one or the other. It's a family thing."

Sinner dismisses invasive questions about his private life

He wasn't in the mood to explain his kiss with Kalinskaya either. It doesn't serve any purpose other than to pry into private information about something very personal to him—his relationship with his girlfriend.

This instance was nothing strange for Sinner because he's always been quite protective of his private life. While some players share a lot, the 23-year-old has never been one to reveal too much concerning matters close to him.

He talks about his tennis openly, his career, results, and plenty of other topics, but when it comes to his private life and people close to him, that's the part he keeps close to his chest.

It's only natural because he's in the spotlight so much. He has to draw the line somewhere to protect himself. It's possibly the reason why the Italian didn't take part in the BreakPoint tennis documentary by Netflix.
