Sebastian Korda Withdraws From 2023 European Open In Antwerp

After playing for three consecutive weeks, Sebastian Korda is taking a break by skipping over the 2023 European Open in Antwerp.

No player played more matches in the past three weeks than Sebastian Korda, who had a really tough schedule as well. He went to Zhuhai first and had a good week of tennis there, losing to Karen Khachanov in the semi-final.

He then went to Astana in Kazakhstan, where he also had a really good week of tennis. He made the final but lost to Adrian Mannarino despite being on the verge of winning the event.

He then went back to China for the Shanghai Masters, where he again produced amazing tennis, downing the likes of Daniil Medvedev and Ben Shelton en route to a semi-final.

He lost to Hubert Hurakaz in the semi-final, narrowly missing out on the biggest final of his career. That was 13 matches in 23 days for Korda, and obviously, he's tired and fatigued, and his wrist hurts, which is an old injury that's yet to fully heal, so it's not a surprise that he's taking a break.

Playing three weeks in a row wasn't particularly smart scheduling from Korda, but he missed so much time this year that the desire to play was simply too much.

He'll now rest for a week and possibly return next week ahead of the Paris Masters, which likely will be his final event of this year.

Overall, it's been a really solid year when he was healthy enough to play, and that's going to be crucial for him. He remains healthy enough to play consistently, and we've seen recently what he's capable of when he does that.
