As the season draws to a close, so does the battle for the ATP Finals heat up, and several players are in contention for the event.
By now, in the calendar, we kind of know which players will be in Turin for the ATP Finals. We know we'll see Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, and Daniil Medvedev. Those players have already secured a spot in Turin, but we'll likely see Jannik Sinner and Andrey Rublev there, too.
They're currently ranked 4th and 5th in the Race, but things get complicated after that. We have several players that are pretty close in points and not too far from the pack of players that are pursuing them. For example, Stefanos Tsitsipas is 6th right now with 3640 points, about 1000 points more than Casper Ruud at number 10.
With several big events coming up including two Masters, there are plenty of points up for grabs, so all of these players are technically in contention. Even Frances Tiafoe, at number 13 with 2210 points, isn't out of the race yet. He's unlikely to make it, but stranger things have happened.
The most likely to secure a spot at the Finals are Holger Rune, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Holger Rune has been looking particularly shaky lately with some injury concerns and a 7-match losing streak.
Tsitsipas isn't looking that impressive either, disappointing recently during the Davis Cup for Greece, leaving Zverev as the player who looked the best recently. Can he put together some great runs in Asia to secure a spot? Let's see, but for now, check out the table of what the race entails until the end of the year.
Player | Current number points (Race) |
---|---|
Stefanos Tsitsipas | 3570 |
Holger Rune | 3055 |
Alexander Zverev | 3030 |
Taylor Fritz | 3010 |
Casper Ruud | 2625 |
Alex de Minaur | 2505 |
Tommy Paul | 2435 |
Frances Tiafoe | 2210 |
