Rune Ready To Overcome Physical Issues In Beijing And Break Seven-Match Losing Streak

Holger Rune is seemingly back to full health judging by his social media post and he wants to take on the Asian Swing.

It's been a really bad time on the tennis court for Holger Rune recently, as he hasn't won a single match since Wimbledon. It's been seven defeats in a row, including a very painful one on home soil in Denmark in the Davis Cup. Rune posted an update after that match, promising to work himself back to full health as he's not been very healthy recently.

He made that admission at the US Open, and skipping the Laver Cup seemingly proved like the right idea as he's fit. That's at least judging by his most recent Instagram post, where he shared pics of himself, his sister, and his new girlfriend, as well as physiotherapy for the back issues that have bothered him for a while now.

A little bit of everything from this week. Good recovery and feeling healthy again. Thank you to everyone helping me this week to get back on track. Now off to China looking forward.

A pretty big part of the season is coming up, and Rune is excited about it. Whether his words truly ring true and he's healthy will be determined in the coming weeks, but he needs wins and points. The Dane narrowly missed out on the ATP Finals last year and certainly hopes to avoid that this year.

He needs points to do that, as a couple of players managed to overtake him in the Race, which isn't ideal considering how many points he defends in the coming 1-2 months. He needs a good cushion from this Asian swing, but we'll see whether his back holds up. If it doesn't, it's going to be tough.
