Jannik Sinner finally had a major breakout season in 2023, and he wants to prove that it was no fluke and that more greatness is coming.

Ever since Sinner broke out as a good player a few years ago, people have waited to see when that next step will happen. We're so used to players making that sudden huge leap that we simply assume that it will come sooner or later.

It didn't for Sinner, whose growth has been much steadier, which created thoughts about him possibly never really making that step. Well, throw those thoughts into the thrash because he made it this year, and what a step it was.

A maiden ATP 1000 trophy in Canada, to a great run in the season's final weeks, which concluded with an ATP Finals run to the final. A couple of wins over Djokovic, the best player in the world, proved that the recent rise was a fluke, but he wants to keep it going in 2024 to dispel any doubts further. In a talk with Eurosport, Sinner outlined his hopes for 2024.

2024 must be the year of confirmation. Having the pressure on you is an honor but it must be taken with a smile. I had an excellent end to the season, with the victory of the Davis Cup I felt many emotions. Perhaps we didn't realize how much was important for the Italians. It will be important to start off as positive as in these months of 2023. It will be another season full of great emotions.

The Davis Cup triumph certainly finished off the breakout season properly. A couple of huge singles wins, and a double win over Djokovic cemented Sinner as the best player in the season's final three months. Let's see what the next three months look like for the Italian.
