Carlos Alcaraz had a great year, and while Jannik Sinner stole the show in the year's final quarter, the Spaniard will be the better player in 2024, according to Cameron Norrie.
Cameron Norrie is one of the better players on the ATP Tour, and while he had a bit of a down year in 2023, he still managed to win a trophy. It came in Brazil over an injured Carlos Alcaraz, who was one of the best players in the world.
The Brit is a pretty big fan of Alcaraz and his game and sees him as the leading player from this new generation of players. Jannik Sinner is the player everybody is talking about right now due to a few recent wins over Djokovic, but let's remember that Alcaraz bested Djokovic in a Grand Slam final. Wimbledon, no less.
Matches like that make Norrie believe that the Spaniard will once again come out on top in the battle of the young superstars. He talked about it to tennis365.
I think Alcaraz will do better than Sinner next year. I think Alcaraz has a more complete game. He moves better than Sinner, has more variety on the forehand, better drop shots, he volleys better than Sinner. More skilful with the slice. So I’d say Alcaraz has a better year than Sinner. Let’s see, I could be wrong.
Norrie made a compelling argument for Alcaraz, and he's right. Alcaraz does plenty of things better than Sinner, but pure hitting is one where the Italian has the edge on his day.
It's how he bested Alcaraz when they played. When the Italian finds his stroke, it's pretty impossible to stand opposite to him. He crushes anybody who dares.
The good thing for his opponents is that it happens rarely, but he's finding that stroke more often than before, so let's see.
