Carlos Alcaraz will contest his first Olympic Games next year in Paris, and he's looking forward to fulfilling his dream.
Being able to take part in the Olympics is the dream of any athlete, and Alcaraz is no different. The reigning world number one on the ATP Tour, who is expected to be even better next year, is going to be in Paris with a great chance to take home a medal.
He's excellent on clay, he's one of the best players in the world, and he's highly motivated when it comes to the Olympics because it's been something he's dreamed of since he was very little. It's a perfect storm for the superstar.
It's a dream for me, honestly to be involved in the Olympic Games, representing my country. It's something that I dream about since I started playing tennis. Playing not only for yourself, but or all the Spanish people. You give an extra motivation, an extra energy, fighting for a medal, for my country.
The Spaniard already expressed his desire to play doubles with Rafael Nadal at the Olympic Games, as it doesn't get any better than that for him. Playing with a tennis icon from his country who he looked up to with a chance to win some historic medals, that's what it's all about.
Alcaraz is hopeful that it comes true, but he's also going to be going for a medal in the singles. The Roland Garros courts suit his style of play well, and he thinks that he's a better player when wearing the Spanish red so we'll see.
I think I'm a better player representing my country. I feel really comfortable on clay. It helps the Spanish players as well. We are familiar with that surface. To be there (Roland Garros) and not playing a Grand Slam is going to be fun but at the same time a little bit weird. It's a perfect situation if we win a gold medal with Rafa but I think we are going to enjoy.
