'Novak Is Coming To Wimbledon': Alcaraz Keeps Expecations Low Despite Queen's Win

Carlos Alcaraz isn't looking too far ahead with Wimbledon after his 2023 Cinch Championships triumph as he knows that Novak Djokovic is ready to face him.

Carlos Alcaraz was very confident about his ability to win Roland Garros ahead of the event but it didn't work out. The Spaniard was humbled in a match against his biggest rival for that trophy Novak Djokovic, as he allowed nerves to affect his body which cramped up in the middle of the match.

It was a very disappointing finish as it had very little to do with his actual tennis but it was a valuable lesson for the future. Whether he learned anything from that match might get tested fairly soon at Wimbledon, especially if he pairs up against Novak Djokovic.

The Serbian has been spectacular on the grass so far winning the event multiple times and Alcaraz understands that it's going to be tough. Alcaraz confirmed that leading up to the event admitting that he has fewer chances on grass than on any other surface. Despite winning his maiden trophy in Queen's Alcaraz didn't change his mind on his chances at Wimbledon.

Well, the chances doesn't change too much. You know, Novak is coming to Wimbledon. Right now I'm feeling better (on the grass) than on the beginning of the week. Obviously recovering the number one before Wimbledon gives you some motivation, gives you extra confidence but you know it doesn't change much if you play Wimbledon as number one or number two.

Alcaraz on his Wimbledon chances

The Spaniard joked after his win over Lehecka that he might rethink his Wimbledon goals but there is a very minor chance that he seriously contemplated winning Wimbledon. Obviously, as long as he's in the draw it will be a possibility but it still doesn't mean it's realistic. Even if he surprised himself and many others with his level this week.
