Novak Djokovic Nominated For BBC's Sports Personality of the Year

Novak Djokovic had one hell of a year and was nominated for the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year Award because of it.

2023 was a pretty decent year in sports, with many great things happening. Novak Djokovic was part of that 'Wrapped' with a few highlights, such as winning three Grand Slams, which put him at the top of most singles Grand Slam trophies ever.

That was not the only thing Djokovic did, as his list of achievements is far longer. He finished the year with a 57-7 record and seven trophies in his cabinet. That's the most trophies out of all players, which is fascinating, considering he doesn't play a full calendar.

He also finished the year as number one, which was an incredible achievement considering that, again, he doesn't play the full calendar. It just shows how efficient he is with the events he plays. If he plays it, he basically wins it and that is more than enough to return to his rightful place of world number one.

That was enough for BBC to pull the trigger and nominate him for their Sports Personality of the Year award. He's not the only one nominated as some other nominees, including gymnastics legend Simone Biles, football World Cup champion and MVP Aitana Bonmati, football star Erling Haaland, Rugby Union player Siya Kolisi, and Formula One racing driver Max Verstappen.

It's a pretty great list of athletes that have all been excelling in their respective sports. Some of them are living legends like Djokovic and Biles, so it will be interesting to see who gets the honour. All are worthy, but what Djokovic has been doing has been utterly spectacular.

We've come to expect it which sort of makes it seem like nothing special but this is beyond special. We haven't really seen this happen in tennis before.
