Novak Djokovic has been one of the most dominant players in the history of the ATP Tour, and in 2024, he can prove his point once again.
It seems that all that the Serbian has been doing over the past two seasons is breaking records. He became the first man to win 40 ATP Masters 1000 trophies, and also the first man to win 24 Grand Slams, equalling the feat of Margaret Court, who won the same number of majors.
Djokovic is part of the history also outside of the tennis court but in 2024, he can overtake his long-time rival, Roger Federer, in another milestone that seemed to be untouchable.
During his successful career, the Swiss Maestro managed to win 103 ATP Tour-level titles, only six less than the most successful player in this regard, Jimmy Connors, who won 109 titles, a mark that Djokovic wants to break.
But before breaking Connors' record, the 36-year-old first needs to catch up with player that retired only recently, and the numbers back him to do it in 2024.
With Djokovic currently having 98 titles in his collection, and Federer collecting 103 titles during his career, the Serbian needs only five titles to level his rival, and six titles to overtake him.
And judging by the past few seasons, the 24-time major winner is on track to at least level the Swiss player. He's won at least five titles in every season since 2021, but there's one important thing to mention.
The 2020 and 2021 seasons have been plagued by Covid-19 pandemic, and in the 2022 and 2023 seasons, Djokovic wasn't able to enter some of the tournament.
Yet, he still managed to win seven trophies in 2023, and five titles in 2022 and 2021. His least-successful season in the past five years was the 2020 season, during which he won only four titles.
But once again, it's important to note that the period between 2020 and 2022 wasn't ideal for Djokovic, as he couldn't play as many tournaments as he wanted to.
Now, with seven titles in 2023, he's more than on track to overtake Federer, and close up on Connors ahead of 2025. Unless someone stops him, because there are plenty of adepts. Jannik Sinner showed his sensational level, Carlos Alcaraz already stopped the Serbian, and Rafael Nadal is coming back.
