by Kadir Macar

Nikoloz Basilashvili has looked like a shell of himself in the past few years and he revealed elbow problems as the culprit behind it.

Elbow problems are maybe not common in tennis but they're not rare either. We've seen numerous players deal with them such as Novak Djokovic who struggled greatly with an elbow issue many years ago and more recently as well. Stefanos Tsitsipas had to undergo surgery in order to fix an elbow issue that plagued him.

Nikoloz Basilashvili now revealed himself as another player dealing with the problems admitting to taking a lot of painkillers in order to play tennis with the hopes of a more permanent solution in the future. He's yet to find one but he's not giving up.

Hello everyone, It has been a while, so I would like to give a small update to my fans and people who care about me. I have had super difficult times last 3-4 years in my life. In my personal as well as in my professional career. The last 3 years I have been struggling with my elbow injury.

Basilashili also touched upon his private life issues as he faced charges of physical and verbal abuse by his former partner. He was acquitted of all charges but the situation weighed heavily on him mentally which didn't help as he was dealing with these physical problems.

I have been able to play only within 50% of my capabilities, drinking painkillers every week and having to find a new solution day by day.I had to go on court every time with unbearable pain which drained my energy, took my confidence and all the fun I was getting from playing Tennis. I am still not giving up on it, I will do everything I can and I believe I will find a solution. Thank you for your support.
