Nick Kyrgios slammed Daily Mail after they published a piece about a supposed incident that happened in Sydney during Australian Fashion Week.
The Australian player is away from tennis right now due to a knee surgery he underwent a few months ago. It's been a slow process getting himself into playing shape as his recent withdrawal from Roland Garros proved.
During his time back home, Kyrgios focused on his recovery mostly but also took time to enjoy time with his girlfriend Costeen Hatzi. He went with her to the Australian Fashion Week in Sydney where the supposed incident with a security guard happened.
According to the Daily Mail, Kyrgios demanded a security guard to escort him and his girlfriend into the venue in order to avoid fans wanting to take a picture with them. According to the story, he was left disappointed when the guard guided them to a line where they had to wait to get into the venue. According to Kyrgios, it's not what happened.
This is horrible journalism. Anything for clicks these days. The security guard had a disability and was a fan! We had a great conversation and I told him how grateful I was that he wanted to help. Shoutout to the security guard, keep being strong! You know who you are.
The Australian further explained that he requested no VIP treatment at the event and waited like everybody else to get inside the venue. He even alluded to the picture the Daily Mail used for the article as proof that he was waiting like everyone else.

It's unclear what exactly happened and unless a 3rd party speaks out, people will need to pick the story they like better. However, it wouldn't be the first time that a news publication misrepresented something, as only a few days ago Iga Swiatek slammed another publication for misquoting her.
