A new mixed competition called the United Cup will debut in 2023 as a replacement for the now-defunct Hopman Cup but there will be no Russian or Belarusian players.
As 18 nations compete in the event, which is a continuation of what was formerly the Hopman Cup, it will serve as the catalyst for the Australian summer part of the season. However, unlike the Hopman Cup, the event will take place in three different cities, not just one.
There won't be any players from Russia or Belarus competing in the event because it is being organized by Tennis Australia, the ATP, and the WTA and since under these organizations, Russian athletes can compete only under neutral flag, they won't be able to form a team.
As a result, neither Medvedev nor Rublev, Azarenka nor Sabalenka will be present. They will be permitted to compete at the Australian Open under a neutral flag in spite of the United Cup ban.
It will take place between December 29 and January 9 and include group matches in Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth for two men's singles matches, two women's singles matches, and one mixed doubles event.
