Korda Hopes Prove Himself And Be 'In Talks With Alcaraz, Sinner & Rune'

by Sebastian Dahlman

Not many would put Sebastian Korda in the same sentence as Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Holger Rune, but the American hopes to prove himself worthy of being named among them.

Sebastian Korda is a super-talented player whom legendary coach Rick Macci considers a future Grand Slam winner. He carries the gene as his father was a former player who has a Grand Slam trophy in his cabinet.

He's yet to unleash his potential fully, but he's shown it multiple times. Two of those times came against Daniil Medvedev this year, as he bested him in Melbourne earlier in the year and also recently at the Shanghai Masters.

Those are the types of performances fans want to see from him consistently, and he'd like to deliver that, but a few things need to go right for him. Mostly, it's staying healthy because he's not been very healthy lately but is finally looking good and, more importantly, playing well.

"Yeah, I mean, they obviously have better results than me. I don't think I'm under the radar in any sort. You know, just have some good results here and there and hopefully be in the talks with them. But, yeah, they're incredible players and hopefully we'll be playing against each other for many, many years."

Korda on being in the conversation among the best young players

We'll see what happens with Korda in the future, but he's a really patient player who doesn't mind taking the long road to success. Despite his health woes, he has multiple 30+ wins seasons so far and sits at 24 this year.

It's likely he will get to 30 once more on talent alone, and with time, he looks to be even better. His next challenge is a match against Francisco Cerundolo. The Argentinian is a tricky player, so we'll see how he does.
