WATCH: Alcaraz Does Audacious Behind-the-Back Shot On Match Point In Shanghai

Carlos Alcaraz is a brilliant tennis player, and he showed it once more in his most recent match at the 2023 Shanghai Masters against Gregoire Barrere.

This is the Spaniard's first time in China, and it's been a pretty good experience overall. He had an unsatisfactory conclusion to his China Open experience as Jannik Sinner beat him despite starting the match well.

It was an exciting match from Alcaraz's point of view, because he seemed in control, only to lose control in a somewhat atypical way. He lamented after the match as he wasn't happy with his approach but rectified that rather quickly for the Shanghai Masters.

He took on French player Gregoire Barrere and outplayed him rather comfortably 6-2 7-5 to secure the next round of the event. Both players contested the match well, and it was pretty snappy due to how Barrere likes to play.

We saw a few long rallies as he loves to attack, and such an approach worked well for Alcaraz. He was inspired to play from the start and showed how lucid he could be in the final point of the match.

Barrere sent a really fast return his way, and he simply answered with a behind-the-back shot like it was nothing. The ball landed in the court, allowing Alcaraz to win the point and close out the match. It was a very fitting ending for the match, an exciting one for an exciting match.

He had a big smile after closing it out, and the crowd was also impressed. You can hear them gasp on the video below. Regarding Alcaraz, he will take on Daniel Evans in the next round in what promises to be a rematch of their very fun battle at the US Open, and as he was back then, the 20-year-old is once again favoured to win.
