Jannik Sinner lost in the 2023 Miami Open final but he wasn't ready to focus on the negatives after the loss.

The young Italian has a great future ahead of him and although he lost in the Miami Open final for the second time, it wouldn't be a surprise if he had many more chances to win the title in Florida in the future.

After losing to Daniil Medvedev in the final, Sinner admitted to health struggles but he also didn't want to focus on the negatives. He was aware of the improvement that he made and that was the important thing for him despite the loss.

“It's always going to be a tough, tough challenge for me to play against [Medvedev]. But I feel like I'm getting closer and closer. Even today I felt like that the chances are there, so that's the good thing and the positive thing. The good thing is that after Indian Wells compared to here I have improved. I felt better on court. That's the most important.”

Before taking on Medvedev in the final, the 21-year-old played a spectacular match against the first-seeded Carlos Alcaraz and for many that was the best match of the tournament. The Italian was also proud about his victory as he knows that he'll meet the Spaniard for years to come.

“It takes a bit [out of you] because that was a match [against Alcaraz] I was very looking forward to. I was preparing a lot. In the other way, when you step off court, you feel also confident. Because winning against Carlos, it was a very, very good win.”

After such a demanding match, it can happen that the player's body needs more time to recover but the Italian was very unlucky as he also picked up a sickness along the way. He admitted it during his speech after the final.

"Obviously, thanks to my team. We woke up this morning, not at my best. I felt a little bit sick, but thanks everyone for the support. It means a lot to me. You gave me a lot of energy. Unfortunately, today, I couldn't play at my best, but I still thank you so much and see you guys next year."

Remembering his final appearance in Miami from 2021 when he lost to Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets, Sinner shared that he really wants to win the title at the Miami Open.

"Thanks to everyone who made this tournament very special. And two years ago, I played in the final, didn't win this year, but hopefully one time I can take this one home. So thank you so much."
