Carlos Alcaraz returns to the 2024 Wimbledon Championship as the defending champion, and he's looked at videos of himself to see how he did what he ended up doing last year.

What Alcaraz did last year was truly special, as the Spaniard dethroned Novak Djokovic after years of his domination at SW19. The Spaniard didn't arrive to the grass-court part of the season with a lot of confidence last year, but a title run at the Queen's Club made him believe that he could win the major.

He had a similar plan this year to go to Queen's once more, but it didn't go as well. He lost to Jack Draper fairly early at the ATP 500 event. He needed a new plan and found it by watching videos of himself.

He wanted to see how he did what he did last year, as he's coming into Wimbledon with a lot fewer matches than last year, so reminding himself of what worked last year is a good idea.

He also confirmed that he still watches the videos of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Andy Murray, but does not copy anything they do.

"Not at all. I don't really think about other players. I'm still watching videos of Roger, Andy, Rafa and Novak as well and I add videos of myself last year. I'm not gonna lie. Just to see what I did and how I did it. I'm not trying to pick up from other players."

Despite a lackluster preparation for Wimbledon this year, Alcaraz is considered one of the favorites by many. He might not be the top favorite, as that goes to Novak Djokovic by default, but he and Jannik Sinner are certainly among those expected to do really well at the event.

As the defending champion Alcaraz will open the Centre Court action on Monday at noon.
