Andy Murray recently played a practice set at Wimbledon and has yet to decide whether to play at the upcoming Championships.
The British player probably hoped for nothing more than a smooth transition into Wimbledon week. Unfortunately, as his career often showed, Murray doesn't get the happy ending often.
He didn't this time around, as he injured himself at the Cinch Championships, which has historically been a really great place for him to play tennis. The injury required surgery, which he underwent not even two full weeks ago.
The usual recovery time is longer than the time between the third major of the season and his surgery, so Murray's participation at Wimbledon was always in doubt.
It's still in doubt because the Brit hasn't yet decided whether he'll actually play. His decision will happen on Monday evening, but the latest reports are positive.
He played a practice set at SW19 recently and felt exceptionally good, which is why he confirmed during his press conference on Sunday that he's hopeful of playing.
"It’s been obviously a tough 10 days or so since Queen’s. Obviously I had the operation on the back, which wasn’t insignificant. I’ve just been trying to do everything that I can to try and get ready to start the tournament here."
"I don’t know if that’s going to be enough. I’ve been practising for the last few days. I played a set today. It went pretty well, but I still don’t have 100 per cent feeling and sensation in my leg yet."
Murray would love another week because he feels better every day, but unfortunately, he doesn't have that luxury. He'll have one more morning to get ready, and he'll give it his all to be as prepared as it's humanly possible.
