“I still want to play tennis even though I achieved pretty much everything" - Djokovic on his career

Novak Djokovic recently witnessed Roger Federer hanging it up but the Serbian is not wavering in his wish to continue to play tennis.

He last competed last weekend in the Laver Cup, where he won one match but lost the other. There were discussions about retiring as a result of Federer quitting the sport, and he was very complimentary when speaking about him:

“I have a massive respect for Roger, and to what he had contributed to our sport. He had an epic career, he can be proud of it. He's one of the most recognised athletes of all time. His retirement is a sad moment for tennis.”

Djokovic travelled to Tel Aviv after the event to take part in the ATP 250 event there and it's a continuation of the grind for Djokovic, one that he still enjoys: “I still want to play tennis even though I achieved pretty much everything that you can achieve in tennis. I still have passion and hunger to play at a highest professional level.”

The event brings him back to a country that left a very positive impact on him. He competed in the Davis Cup in Israel, and the memories an 18-year-old Djokovic created there are fondly remembered to this day.

“It was the loudest atmosphere I ever experienced, very passionate people for sport here. I love to see that. And I also visited Jerusalem on my second visit to Israel, but it was a while ago."

"I forgot many things, so I'll definitely come back again. This week is mostly about tennis for me, I hope to play well here and to see a lot of people come to watch my matches.”
