Novak Djokovic can't play at the US Open because he can't enter the country due to his unvaccinated status and John Millman questions why.

The Australian was able to enter the US as he is vaccinated however he noticed a troubling trend in the country which makes Djokovic not being able to enter seem silly. After playing in Atlanta, Millman tested positive for the virus showing that it's widely circulating in the country and also in tennis circles. According to Millman, that's because there are no particular rules enforced that would prevent the spread:

"I’m out with covid. I was just in the states and it didn’t really feel like too many were following any recommendations or guidelines there. Which is fine, but therefore I can’t see then why @DjokerNole can’t come and compete."

He followed it up:

"Let me be clear. If everyone in the country was following guidelines then I’m all for them enforcing a vax entry policy. But from what I saw pretty much no one was, the tournament allows non-vax citizens to play and only 30% have had a booster.”

It's a fair opinion by Millman however it's the whole Wimbledon thing over again. A county has the right to impose whatever rules it fits on its own territory. The US have a policy in place that the vast majority of people complied with including tennis players such as Millman so Djokovic being allowed to enter could be considered preferential treatment.
