Novak Djokovic has been utterly spectacular in the Davis Cup, having avoided a loss for nearly 12 years before Saturday's match against Jannik Sinner.
Novak Djokovic is obviously one of the best players ever if not the best player ever, and he has many stats that back him up. He was basically unbeaten for ten years on the Centre Court of Wimbledon, which is amazing.
Another amazing stat was that he didn't lose for 12 years in the Davis Cup. Now, he only played the competition when it really mattered, so it's not like he totaled hundreds of matches in it, but the fact that he didn't lose for such a long time speaks volumes.
His stats in the competition are pretty impressive. He has totaled 47 matches so far and lost 7 of them, which is a pretty good mark. The last loss came against Juan Martin Del Potro back in 2011 when Serbia faced Argentina.
Djokovic actually retired from that match, but it counts as a loss as he was down in sets when it occurred. Since then, Djokovic has won all of his matches, including a few days ago when he bested Cameron Norrie to secure the semi-final.
It wasn't until Saturday's match against Jannik Sinner that the Serbian lost again, though he was on the verge of winning this one as well. Sinner has actually made a habit of ending winning streaks by Djokovic as he snapped his 19-match winning streak last week at the ATP Finals in Turin.
The Italian has been proving himself on the biggest stage this year, though Djokovic arguably won the most important of those matches, which was the ATP Finals final.
In any case, the Davis Cup streak is no more, and it will possibly remain one of the most impressive streaks we've ever seen by a player.
