Historic 2023 US Open Sets New All-Time Grand Slam Attendance Record

The 2023 US Open was a fabulous Grand Slam tournament, and it was actually the most attended one ever, as revealed by the event itself.

This year's edition being the most attended ever makes sense because a couple of things happened that contributed to that. Obviously, tennis, like many other sports is becoming more popular especially after they showed off the sport in Netflix's Break Point.

Another thing was the run of Coco Gauff, which finished with her being crowned the champion. Having an American champion at the US Open is a dream scenario for everybody involved, and Gauff made it happen this time around.

All of that contributed to some of the records at this year's US Open so let's go over what happened. The event was visited by over 950,000 people over its duration which is the most for any Grand Slam. The official number of visitors was 957,387, which represents an 8% increase from last year.

The main draw attendance number was 799,402, including sell-outs for all 25 sessions on Arthur Ashe Stadium. That's the second year in a row that that happened. Both the men's and women's championship sessions were the highest attended ever on record, which is great to see.

The main draw wasn't the only session that broke records, as we saw an increase across the board. Kids Day also saw an increase in attendance as this year's edition featured 40,868, easily breaking the previous record of 35,525 from last year.

The video of Coco Gauff enjoying herself at the US Open Kids days from years ago was played all week as she was marching on to what ended up being her first Grand Slam trophy. Great event overall, so let's see whether the tournament will be able to keep up the trend in years to come.
