'Intimidating' Djokovic 'Can Be Beaten' Says Upcoming Opponent Davidovich Fokina

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina will face Novak Djokovic at Roland Garros and he's confident about playing the Serbian.

Davidovich Fokina has established himself as one of the better players on clay over the past few years and he actually beat Djokovic once on the surface as well. It was last year at the Monte-Carlo Masters and he'll look to repeat that once again.

Djokovic is still one of the best but he's been beaten this year already as he isn't playing that well this year. He's shown glimpses of being vulnerable already at this event allowing both Marton Fucsovics and Aleksandar Kovacevic to give him some minor issues. The Spaniard is also very capable of doing that and more importantly, he's unafraid to try.

I know Djokovic pretty well, I’ve also watched him a lot on TV. We’ve practised a couple of times in Marbella, and I get on well with his team. Of course, he’s quite intimidating, but when you play against him several times you see that he is another player who can be beaten. You can’t be afraid, you have to take it to him.

Besides that familiarity of having practiced with Djokovic quite a bit, Davidovich Fokina has the advantage of age on his side. While Djokovic is still one of the best in the world and can play for a long time, he certainly doesn't want to play a long match. The Spaniard doesn't mind one as he's in superb condition which allows him to drag out rallies.

One thing that he'll have to avoid is spamming a lot of errors which can happen to him at times as well. That happened in two matches they played and Djokovic cruised in both of those. He played sharp in Monte-Carlo and won that one in three sets. Expect a really good one regardless of how it goes.
