Nicolas Mahut doesn't think that the GOAT Race will ever have a clear winner because there will always be a debate.

Many consider the GOAT race to be wide open but a lot think that Novak Djokovic will end up as GOAT because he has the biggest chance to do so. The Serbian is the healthier one between him and Nadal and he looks far more likely to break more records and win more grand slams. Even so, Mahut doesn't think it will change anything, as he said in an interview with L'Equipe.

Even if he breaks all the records, there will always be a debate (GOAT), which would not be the case if it was Federer or Nadal. Novak is not appreciated at his fair value. I find unfair criticism of all that he has accomplished.

Mahut on Djokovic

Djokovic himself admitted in Dubai recently that he never dreamed of achieving everything that he did because it seemed so unimaginable. Nobody thought many years ago that winning 20 grand slams was likely but now we have three tennis players who did it and they were all part of the same era.

Well, I could not have imagined it at that point, to be honest. I was dreaming as a kid to be Wimbledon champion, to be No. 1 in the world. I achieved those dreams 2011. After that, of course, I wanted more. I still want more achievements.
