Carlos Alcaraz has had some bad losses recently, and it won't be happening in the future, according to former Spanish player Nicolas Almagro.
Almagro was a pretty decent tennis player in his time winning 13 ATP trophies in his career, so he knows what it's like to be a good tennis player. He was never as good as Alcaraz but he knows what it's like to see your level fluctuate from time to time.
Alcaraz has experienced that this year, which saw him lose a couple of matches that people generally expected him to win. You'll never win all of the matches even if people expect you to but Almagro does think that Alcaraz will manage it better in the coming year.
It must be complicated to be in this situation. I think that being able to handle this type of circumstances has to be very difficult, I know that Carlos – he is very ambitious, I know that his dream is to finish number one.
He also has to have a great Masters Cup (ATP Finals) in Turin. He still has tournaments ahead of him and we will see how he performs. Personally, I think he has everything under control, or so I want to think, but it not only depends on him, but also on Djokovic, on how he is physically and mentally.
According to Almagro, things will settle in the more he plays tennis because he's still a fairly young player. He's won a lot but he's not played a lot, especially not compared to some other player.
I have learned everything – that he has been on the circuit for a year and everything that is happening to him is logical and normal. It has never happened to Carlos and I am clear that in the coming years this type of errors or declines in certain tournaments will not happen to him.
