Alexander Zverev's Roland Garros journey once again finished in the semifinals and it was another disappointing finish.

Zverev can't seem to get to the final of Roland Garros as he finished in the semi-final for the 3rd consecutive year. The German had some good moments at the event this year and showed his best tennis since getting injured but was a total-no show in the match against Casper Ruud.

The Norwegian cruised far too easily in three sets to set up a clash with Novak Djokovic who bested Carlos Alcaraz in a match that was a bit more complicated. Zverev himself highlighted the disappointment underlining a big difference in level against Ruud and in the previous match.

Yeah, for sure. Another semifinal here. Very disappointed with today, because I think you can lose but the game just was not there at all.Big difference unfortunately to the previous matches, but, you know, that's the way it is. He played well. I played very, very much below average. That's how it goes

He was asked whether that had something to do with any physical struggles as he did look a bit weak compared to previous matches. His response didn't reveal anything spectacular but he did admit that there were things he was dealing with.

I don't want to take anything away from him, to be honest, but yeah, I had my struggles.

Further clarifying Zverev didn't want to take away from his opponent as he credited Ruud for playing really well while remaining coy on the 'physical issue' that didn't allow him to play as well as he had hoped to. Zverev alluded to struggling to keep up with Ruud's ability to pain the ball across the court.

It's a tough one because I think he played extremely well. I had one physical issue, which kind of against him you have to run a lot, you have to fight. Yeah, I wasn't really able to do that. I wasn't really able to push off my serve much, as well. You know, just everything went his way a little bit.
