'History Always Hovering Over Me': Djokovic On Prospect Of Winning 23rd Grand Slam

Novak Djokovic will try to make history at this year's Roland Garros but it will be tough for the legendary player.

Djokovic has set many records, some of which happened during this Roland Garros run. He has a chance to set another one on Sunday when he takes on Casper Ruud in the Roland Garros final. The Serbian ousted Alcaraz in the previous round while Ruud bested Alexander Zverev to set up this clash.

It's going to be a good match as their previous matches generally featured solid play even though Djokovic leads the H2H 4-0. The chance to become the player with the most grand slam wins on the ATP Tour is an added motive for Djokovic, but could also give him more pressure. Pressure is always there when you're one of the best so he's ready for it.

Pressure is always on my shoulders, so it's not going to be different. But it's part of my sport, part of my life, all that I do. I think that having pressure is a privilege. But it's a source of motivation, as well. Great motivation to play well and to reach Sunday.

Being so close to his goal is important for Djokovic and his full focus is on Sunday and getting that win. He has a chance to write further tennis history and there is no greater motivation for him than that. He's ready for a battle as he faces a player who wants to write some tennis history himself.

I hope that I'll play my best tennis level on Sunday. The only thing I can say now is that I'm very focused. History is always something that's hovering over me, but I'm very happy to be in this position to write the history of this sport, but I'm just thinking about winning the next match.
