Andy Murray's Wimbledon preparations are going well as he intends to play many matches on grass before Wimbledon.
Murray's initial plan a few weeks ago was to play at Roland Garros one more time. It was likely going to be the last time he ever plays the event so there was a reason behind it. Instead of playing at Roland Garros Murray opted to stay at home and prepare for the grass season taking a chance to play at the Surbiton Challenger.
It's been going well and he's going to contest the final on Sunday after beating Jordan Thompson in two sets in the semifinals. His next event will be the Nottingham Challenger next week as the Brit looks to add a few more matches on the ATP Challenger Tour as opposed to traveling to Stuttgart like he did last year.
It was a final appearance in Stuttgart last year but it was also an event where he injured himself so him skipping the event might have something to do with that. All of this is being done better prepare for Wimbledon. He's expanded his coaching staff leading up to the event, adding a doubles specialist to his team.
The Brit is very confident in his grass level and there are some reasons to be quite optimistic. He had some really good outings last year beating some good players and even reaching a final. According to Murray himself, he's still a top 10 player on the surface due to his vast experience on it, something not many players have.
Even with all the confidence, former British number one Tim Henman can't see him winning Wimbledon. That would be a bit too much according to the former serve and volley specialist. What he could see is Murray advancing to the second week which would be a great storyline in itself. He almost did earlier this year in Australia.
