Novak Djokovic's 2023 Roland Garros experience finished with a trophy and it's the most desired outcome from him.

Yes, it's been a great two weeks for Djokovic in Paris as he's leaving the French capital with a trophy following an impressive performance in the final. The first man in history to win 23 grand slams revealed something interesting in his post-match press conference something that's not really common among tennis players, at least most of them.

Unlike Ruud who did practice ahead of the match day, Djokovic opted to skip practice and it wasn't the first time he did that at this year's Roland Garros. He did it at the Australian Open as well though he was injured back then. This year it's nothing related to an injury but mostly to recover better after some tough battles.

Well, I skipped practice yesterday. It's kind of a story of the Grand Slams this year for me. I dealt with a lot of exhausting hours on the court. I just felt that sometimes less is more.

Generally, players do practice on off days however that's not universal. Earlier at the event, Juan Carlos Ferrero revealed that Alcaraz hasn't practiced at Roland Garros, and like Djokovic, the former player explained it's mostly due to recovery. Alcaraz does play a very exhausting style which needs a good amount of recovery.

That the biggest priority is to recharge and recover and get as much hours of rest and treatment and maybe some specific exercises and fitness that would just keep the tonus of the muscles.

Ultimately it worked so it might beome something Djokovic does often as his approach of ramping up his level according to the seriousness of the match seems to be working as well. At his age, beign able to pick and choose his spots so well as he does is incredibly useful.
