Djokovic Enjoys Deserved Vacation After Roland Garros Triumph

Novak Djokovic dominated the Roland Garros event for two weeks and now he's enjoying some downtime in Portugal.

The Serbian doesn't get to enjoy life away from tennis too often because the nature of the sport is so demanding. It's happened more often in recent years as he plays a smaller schedule but even then it's really hard to detach from tennis completely.

He is doing that right now in Portugal where he travelled after making history at the French Open. Whether it's becoming the first male player to win 23 grand slams or winning each grand slam at least three times in his career, Djokovic did it all.

The choice for his vacation was the Azores archipelago and the Sao Miguel island with the largest municipality on it being Ponta Delgada. It's a fairly remote group of islands where Djokovic will be able to rest away from any kind of publicity. He hinted at spending some quality family time with his family following the triumph in Paris.

And your question was what will I do in the next days? I mean, now it's going to be I guess time for celebration and fun. I think I miss that, to be honest. We have been too serious for too long. So now a little bit relaxation, spending some quality family time.

It's likely going to be a short trip for Djokovic who explained that he'll go to London early in order to pretend well for the upcoming Wimbledon event. He's the defending champion having won the previous three editions of the event.

And, well, I don't have much time, to be honest, because the grass season is around the corner. Actually, for me, it's going to be only Wimbledon in the plans of playing on grass. So I will move to London quite soon, actually, and then train and get ready for another Grand Slam.
