Matteo Berrettini provided an injury update explaining that he's getting better as the injury was not that serious.

Matteo Berrettini endured a very tough year so far with several injuries, one of which came at the US Open. It looked really bad, with fans hoping that it doesn't end up being as serious as it looked like. Luckily, it's not, and Berrettini is already on the road to recovery.

He recently provided an update in an interview with SkySport during the Davis Cup Finals Group Stage in Bologna. Despite not being able to play, Berrettini was with the team to show support as the country booked their spot in the knockout stages.

The recovery is going well. My injury is less serious than expected, fortunately or unfortunately I have had many of these sprains and I know what the process awaits me.

I'm better, after everything that happened this year I felt more injured inside than outside. I had to recover especially from this point of view and I must say that these days in Bologna helped me a lot to find the right sensations again.

Berrettini would like to return before the end of the year, hopefully earning a spot in the Italian team for the Final 8. Playing for his country was always something he enjoyed doing, and he'd like to do that once more, believing the team was strong enough to win the competition.

The thought of being in Malaga is an extra motivation. If we think about last year's Canada which won from a comeback, I think this year Davis didn't start well for us here in Bologna, but then we qualified . And now we all know that we are a very dangerous team.
