Andrey Rublev Qualifies For 2023 ATP Finals Thanks To Latest Vienna Win

by Sebastian Dahlman

Andrey Rublev has officially booked his place in the year-end ATP tournament after his most recent win at the 2023 Vienna Open, as he will make his fourth appearance at the ATP Finals.

The ATP Finals in Turin were one of Rublev's goals before the season because getting there would mean he was one of the best eight players this year on the Tour, and it would allow him to enter the 2024 season as one of the top eight seeds at the Australian Open.

When we look at the season he has had so far, Rublev arguably had the best season of his career, and his most recent win in Vienna secured him a spot at the ATP Finals.

He almost secured it in Shanghai, but a painful loss to Hubert Hurkacz in the final postponed it a little bit, but here he is, in Turin once more. It's been a great year for Rublev overall, as he'll finish the year with the most wins he's ever had despite not winning as many trophies.

He played in six finals this year, which shows how consistent he's been, but ultimately, he was beaten in four of those, which is unfortunate. Even so, Rublev is glad to be back in Turin, hoping to leave a good impression.

It feels great. It's great news. After the match I didn't know that if I would win the match I would qualify for sure, so I didn't know that and it's a great feeling, great news. Looking forward [to it] and happy to be part of the Nitto ATP Finals for one more year.

It will be the fourth time for Rublev at the ATP Finals, where he had one semi-final appearance (last year). The hope is to go further this time around, and there is a chance he could do it. This is, in many ways, the most consistent season he's produced so far.
