Alexander Zverev suffered an ankle injury during his match against Rafael Nadal and he took to social media to share a brief update.
Zverev twisted his ankle in a very frightening manner during his match against Nadal rolling over in pain. He was visibly shaken up by the injury and after initial medical checkups at the site, he retired from the match. A couple of hours later he took to social media to share a brief update confirming initial reports that it's likely a serious injury.
He said:
"A very difficult moment for me today on the court. Obviously, a fantastic match until what happened, happened. It looks like I have a very serious injury. But the medical team and the doctors are still checking on it."
He also congratualted Nadal:
"I want to congratulate Rafa, obviously. It's an incredible achievement, a 14th final, and hopefully, he can go all the way and make some more history."
