Carlos Alcaraz is in the league of his own and he's proving that at the 2023 Miami Open.

The young Spaniard is almost unbeatable in 2023. In fact, only one player defeated him and it was Cameron Norrie in the Rio final when Alcaraz struggled with an injury. Other than that, the teenager won all 17 matches that he played, including the fourth-round meeting at the 2023 Miami Open with Tommy Paul.

The American defeated the current world no. 1 in their only meeting on the ATP Tour as he triumphed last year in Montreal. The Spaniard had a match point in that match, but he couldn't use it and it was surely one of the matches in which Paul proved his qualities.

He wanted to do the same also in front of the home crowd at the Hard Rock Stadium, but Alcaraz was against it. No one could win a set against him over the course of the eight matches that he played at the Sunshine Double and it wasn't about to change in the fourth round in Miami.

The teenage prodigy had a better start into the match, breaking Paul already in the fifth game and keeping his advantage throughout the first set. Alcaraz faced one break point when he was serving out the set, but he successfully saved it and won the first set 6-4.

In the second set, the Spaniard didn't allow his opponent to have any break points. On the contrary, he had three and using one was enough to get a necessary advantage. Once again, Alcaraz was on fire while his opponent committed more unforced errors than he hit winners.

The world no. 1 hit 9 winners from his forehand side, which troubled Paul during the match. After only one hour and 36 minutes, Alcaraz won the match 6-4, 6-4 and cruised into the 2023 Miami Open quarterfinals.

Another American will challenge him in the next round. Taylor Fritz defeated Holger Rune in the first match that was played at the Hard Rock Stadium on Tuesday, and he will therefore clash with another teenager in the quarterfinals.
