Alcaraz 'Dreamed' About Playing Djokovic Now He's Beating Him

by Zachary Wimer

Carlos Alcaraz dreamed about playing big matches against Novak Djokovic, and he's been doing that for a while and actually winning them.

The most recent big match he played wasn't a high-stakes match because it was an exhibition event in Saudi Arabia. Even so, it was a match against Novak Djokovic, and you can best believe that both of them wanted to win that match.

Djokovic won the opening set, but Alcaraz won the next two to win the match, and after the match, he spoke about the chance to just share the court with a player he basically grew up watching. It's something he dreamed of, and now it's a reality, which is pretty crazy to him, even if it happened a few times already.

It's incredible to share the court with him in these events, in the official tournament, everywhere. Learning from him is amazing so closely. As you said, I grew up watching him winning the big tournaments and I always dream about being in this position, playing against him face to face and I'm really happy to be able to do that.

The new season will begin in a few days, and both Alcaraz and Djokovic have high ambitions. The Serbian will be in action at the United Cup while Alcaraz will skip all events until the Australian Open.

We'll see when a proper matchup arrives, as it might even happen Down Under. Alcaraz is certain, though, that many more will come in the future, and we can all agree with that.

As I said many times and himself said as well, he seems like he's 20, so we are going to share the core more than once. It's amazing and I want to congratulate him and thanks to him to play this match with me and have a good MK.
