Carlos Alcaraz looked every bit the Roland Garros favourite with an impressive performance that left many stunned.

Carlos Alcaraz has been playing on a level worthy of the number-one rank for a good amount now. Nothing that he does comes as a surprise anymore and yet his win over Cobolli in the first round left many impressed.

The Spaniard became world number one again officially ahead of the event and he looked the part on Monday in Paris taking the opening set 6-0. The second one wasn't too shabby either with the crowd one featuring a small lapse in focus though no big drama overall. He looked invincible and felt as much per his own admission.

Well, yeah, I felt I couldn't lose a game. You know, I thought that I was able to win easier than I did, but, you know, a match can turn around in each game. But, yeah, at the start of the match, I felt invincible.

What Alcaraz is doing right now is very special including for him. Some ten years ago he was a kid dreaming about doing some great things in tennis. Maybe win a grand slam, maybe become world number one and here he is, some ten years later having achieved all of that.

Well, I was 10 years old, something like that, when I started, you know, to think about being a professional player, you know, about my dreams. I started to think about that. It was that age, and yeah, it's a great feeling to feel that, you know, 10 years after. So it's something crazy for me. Yeah, I do think it's the best feeling in the world to be No.1, to know that I reached my dream really, really quick.

He'll have to keep it going if he wants to remain number one as he's not guaranteed to remain number one. Up next for him Taro Daniel.
