'Serena Williams Had The Strength Of A Man' Claims Musetti

| by Alex Waite

Lorenzo Musetti revealed that Serena Williams would have been the most difficult player to face of all time and the rising star also reiterated his love for Roger Federer.

ATP world number 20 Musetti has raised his profile in recent months, especially after he stunned Novak Djokovic with a comeback win at the Monte-Carlo Masters last week. However, the Italian was then eliminated in the quarter-finals by Jannik Sinner.

Musetti has received plenty of attention in 2023 following his rise in professional tennis and was asked about his favourite players in an interview with Gio. As well as crediting Federer as his all-time favourite, the 21-year-old explained his admiration for 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams and said the former WTA player would have been one of the toughest to face.

"The greatest woman of all time to play against probably would be Serena Williams because she had the strength of a man and she was hitting hard balls and I think it for sure it would have been tough to play against her."

Musetti told Gio

Despite his respect for Williams, Musetti repeatedly explained that Federer was his overall favourite player. The former ATP player, who won 20 Grand Slams during his career, has been an inspiration for multiple generations of tennis fans, along with the other 'Big Three', Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

But for Musetti, the Swiss superstar has a special place in tennis greatness and he is a player the Italian would have enjoyed facing on the court.

"My favourite player, for sure, was Roger Federer. He has always been a great inspiration to me. I would have loved to play against him but unfortunately, I didn't have that chance. For me, Roger Federer is the greatest player of all time."
