The 2023 Madrid Open promises to be a special one and that's because of many reasons and prize money and points distribution is one of them.
Some ATP & WTA 1000 events underwent a minor change in 2023 and that includes a bigger draw with 96 players and a longer duration. One of those tournaments is also the Madrid Open, which will be played from April 25th to May 7th at the La Caja Mágica.
Last year, Carlos Alcaraz defeated Alexander Zverev in the ATP final, and Ons Jabeur bested Jessica Pegula in the WTA final. All of them are expected to compete also in 2023 and they will be title contenders once again alongside the likes of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Iga Swiatek, and Aryna Sabalenka.
Thanks to the event expansion, it allows more players to get their share of prize money and valuable ranking points. For the first-round loss, players will get 10 points and 16,340€ and for losing in the second round, they will get 25 points on the ATP Tour and 35 points on the WTA Tour, and 27,045€ in prize money.
But everyone will be eyeing the top prize which is 1,105,265€ and 1000 ranking points for the winners of both events. The finalists will get 580,000€ and 600 points in the men's competition and 650 points in the women's competition.
