WATCH: 'The Job Is Not Done': Gauff Pays Tribute To Kobe Bryant After Reaching US Open Final

Coco Gauff used Kobe Bryant's famous 'job is not done' line after her win over Karolina Muchova at the 2023 US Open and expanded more on that after the match.

Coco Gauff extended her winning streak by beating Karolina Muchova for the second time in three weeks. She's now up to 11 wins in a row, with a chance to win her first Grand Slam trophy on Saturday. Gauff stood in a Grand Slam final in the past, but this one is rather different.

She's playing on home soil, backed by thousands of her fans, though it won't be easy as she's facing a Grand Slam champion in Aryna Sabalenka. She called on them to support her on Saturday while using the famous 'Job is not done' line Kobe Bryant famously said. She hasn't won anything yet, and finals are not what she plays for.

Watching this tournament so much so it means a lot to be in the final a lot to celebrate but you know, the job is not done. So hopefully you guys can back me on Saturday.

Gauff after the win

During her press conference, she was asked about that line and whether she's inspired by Kobe Bryant and his famous mamba mentality. She confirmed she was and expanded further on his influence.

Yeah. Definitely. He's, like, has an incredible mentality. One of the things is when he's up and, you know, the finals, NBA Finals when they're up in the count or 3-1, whatever lead they have, he doesn't celebrate. He'd satisfy, give himself a pat on the back but time to move on.

So that's the mentality that I have. I'm trying to enjoy the moment but also knowing I still have more work to do. Yes, the final is an incredible achievement but it's something that I'm not satisfied with yet.
