Coco Gauff made a return to her hometown of Atlanta to play some tennis, and she showed off some dancing as well.
Gauff last played at Wimbledon, getting beaten early in the event by Sofia Kenin in the first round. It was a very disappointing exit for Gauff, who is struggling with her tennis this year. It's a bit odd because she actually started this WTA season well but then struggled to find her rhythm.
The American is now back home, and she made a trip to Atlanta to do some charity work and play the exhibition at the 2023 Atlanta Open, which she played last year as well. She was supposed to play Leylah Fernandez last year, but the Canadian withdrew due to an injury, so Gauff played Taylor Townsend and Sofia Kenin.
A year later and we finally saw the Gauff vs Fernandez match as the American made native fans happy with a solid straight-sets win 6-3 6-3 over the Canadian. Gauff was in great spirits upon returning to Atlanta, and it was great to see for the home crowd.
She showed off her great mood by dancing along with the crowd which was posted on the Instagram profile of the Atlanta Open event. The city hosts only an ATP event though there is hope that we get a joint event in the future. Gauff would certainly love it as she enjoys her time in the city where she spent the first seven years of her life.
The upcoming US Open stretch will be a pretty big one for Gauff and it's starting rather quickly on July 31st with the Washington event. She hopes to turn around her season and finish it off on a strong note after some lacklustre weeks on clay and grass. Check out the video of Gauff dancing below.
