Sabalenka 'Disappointed' About Cincinnati Schedule After Recent Controversy In Canada

by Sebastian Dahlman

Aryna Sabalenka wasn't too thrilled when she saw the schedule at the 2023 Cincinnati Masters, as she will play less than 24 hours after finishing her match.

The Belarusian took on Ons Jabeur for a spot in the semi-final at the Cincinnati Masters, and she proved better by beating her. The match was part of the night schedule, which means it finished late, and that's a concern for Sabalenka as she's part of the day schedule on Saturday.

She's not playing the earlier match, but she's still playing earlier than she did yesterday, which is disappointing to her, especially after the scheduling discourse last week in Montreal. Scheduling has been a topic for much of this year, with several players having issues with it.

The only thing I was worried is the schedule. Everyone was complaining about schedule in Montreal. Just the same thing happen here. I was really disappointed, like, why they would make this decision Alcaraz play at 3. I mean, I understand this is Alcaraz, everyone wants to see him play. They put him at 6.

I just played the match not before 7. Finish, what, 9? I have to play 1 again tomorrow. I was thinking at least 3 p.m. Just the only thing what makes me worried.

The match itself is going to be really tough for Sabalenka because Karolina Muchova is a tough opponent. They battled at Roland Garros earlier this year, and Sabalenka threw away the victory against a very persistent Muchova. The match is set to begin no sooner than 13:30 local time.

About Muchova, we had really battle at the French Open. It was really, really tough match. Really great fight. I'm really looking forward for this match. I really hope that I'll be able to bring better tennis than I brought today on court. Yeah, hopefully I'll be able to get this win back.
