Emma Raducanu has been away from tennis since undergoing triple surgery and she won't be making an appearance in China.
Emma Raducanu has largely been out of the spotlight since undergoing a few surgeries for her injuries earlier this year. The Brit is hopeful of making a return later this year and she's been backed to do so by more than a few people.
Since undergoing the surgery, Raducanu wasn't seen much though she flew out to Mexico for a Dior show and detailed her unfortunate experience there on social media. Since then Raducanu hasn't been in the spotlight, but she was set to appear at an exhibition.
However, Raducanu won't be making the trip to China as the Brit pulled out due to a flu. She announced the news on social media detailing her great disappointment about not being able to return to China.
She's spoken about her desire to return to the country as she has family there and hasn't been there for quite some time. She also revealed that her flu isn't COVID as she tested negative.
Unfortunately, I have been sick with flu symptoms the last few days, and, although tested negative for covid, my doctor said I could not travel. I am devastated to miss the event in Hangzhou.
I have been looking forward to returning to China for 4 years now and am so sad to miss the coming to see my family. I hoping to go back as soon as i possible to see my fans and family.
Raducanu's popularity exploded in her mother's country ever since she won the US Open. Despite representing Great Britain, Raducanu is proud of her Chinese heritage and speaks the language which she demonstrated by opening a Weibo account following her US Open triumph greeting her fans in Mandarin.
