According to recent reports, Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova will have a documentary about their rivalry and relationship.
Navratilova and Evert were fierce rivals who battled many times on the court but became really good friends over the years. There are a lot of parallels between the legendary players, starting with their amazing careers and then some unfortunate life circumstances.
It's a fascinating story; according to reports, it will be immortalized in film. EverWonder Studio will team up with Meadowlark Media to produce a documentary detailing the decades-long relationship between Evert and Navratilova, from their playing days on the WTA Tour to much later in life.
According to Deadline, which broke the news, the companies also secured rights for a potential future scrip adaption of the story, so we might also see a film out of it. Both Evert and Navratilova released statements regarding the news, sharing their excitement.
I’m thrilled that this project is moving forward, and that we’ve found the right partners in EverWonder and Meadowlark. I’m looking forward to sharing our story with global audiences – not just with tennis fans but with anyone who appreciates an inspirational journey through rivalry and to mutual respect and friendship.
“This film has been decades in the making, and EverWonder and Meadowlark are the right studios to finally take it from a concept to a reality. It was important to us to work with storytellers who will honor the true power of our lives and careers together and tell our story in the right way.”
According to the report, both former players agreed to let the companies tackle the documentary after holding talks with the team. We don't have a timeline yet, but judging by the excitement of all parties, expect this sooner rather than later.
