Trash talking is the new hot topic in tennis and many players have voiced their thoughts on it including Madison Keys.

The former Charleston Open champion is in the city of Charleston playing some really good tennis. Keys is hoping to go far but she couldn't escape the burning questions that's been dominating the tennis news headlines for days.

Trash talk in tennis is not something you see often on a tennis court because it's not really encouraged. The sport likes to keep a clean image and doesn't encourage anything that might be remotely controversial and with the mics around the court, this is a controversial topic.

I think it’s fine. I mean, it will definitely be interesting. I think I’d probably laugh if someone said something as we were crossing the net. I mean I’m for it especially if we mic it up. I think fans would like it too.

There is a good chance that fans would enjoy some trash talking but it seems highly unlikely due to the many microphones that might pick it up. Pegula and Gauff started the conversation last week in Miami explaining that it's just something that is part of sports.

Asked who would be good at it, Keys echoed Pegula by singling out Victoria Azarenka as a player who has some skill in that department.

I feel like Vika has some good trash talk. I feel like she would be ready to just fire it all out. I feel like the list is very long for ATP [laughs]. Lots of trash talking already. I don’t know I’m not going to get anyone in trouble.

Players like Tiafoe, Shelton and Badosa are all in favour of trash talking but it's unlikely that we'll ever see it as in other sports. Maybe in the future.
