'Leave it to Twitter' - Swiatek Dismisses Bagel Talk After Roland Garros Opener

Iga Swiatek opened her Roland Garros campaign in a dominant fashion but she's not interested in the narratives around her performances.

Swiatek left very little to imagination after serving up a bagel in her first match at Roland Garros. The bakery was in full effect once she settled after a slow start and it's something she's starting to be known by. Beating players 6-0 in a set isn't easy but very few make it look as easy as Swiatek does.

The bagel against Bucsa was the 11th set this year she won 6-0 making media speculate whether it's a concentrated effort from the Polish superstar. In an exclusive talk with Eurosport, Swiatek dismissed those claims saying she only focuses on the tennis part and not the score.

I don't really think about that [finishing sets 6-0]. It's more I feel the media is doing all that fuss about these results. It's not easy to play these sets anyway, so I'm just trying to keep my focus on what the score is. With all my due respect to my opponents, I don't feel like I should really talk about that kind of stuff, so I'll leave it to Twitter or the media.

The Polish superstar also turns 22 on Wednesday but she won't play a match on her birthday. Asked by Eurosport to look ahead to her birthday, Swiatek admitted that she's looking forward to hopefully getting some gifts.

Small things I would say, I hope I'm going to get some nice gifts and enjoy them. I don't think we'll do something crazy, social-wise I'm already charged up to the maximum level, so I think I'm going to be calm and just chill out tomorrow [Wednesday].
