Kerber Targets Paris Olympics Glory Alongside Compatriot Zverev

| by Evita Mueller

Angelique Kerber has really high ambitions about her comeback, wanting to earn a spot at the Paris Olympics to represent Germany alongside Alexander Zverev.

Kerber has been out of tennis for over a year as she was pregnant. Now, she will return in about a month in Australia, having pretty high ambitions about her comeback.

We'll have to wait and see what happens, but after seeing some of the other mothers compete, there is no reason to doubt Kerber's ability to return to the top.

One of those events she has her eyes on is the Paris Olympics. Playing for Germany has always been a pretty big honor for her, and she has plenty of experience doing that.

She's played with Zverev before, so taking the stage in mixed doubles with him is certainly something she's thinking about.

Very much! When we meet in Australia, we will definitely talk about it. It would make me very happy. The Olympics in Paris are the highlight and playing for Germany is always an honour.

Another thing that Kerber would be honored to do would be the flag-bearing duty. She thought about it and confirmed to Bild that it was her dream to carry the German flag proudly. We'll see whether it comes to pass because many would like the same honor.

It would be indescribable for any athlete to walk in with the German flag. And it's also a dream of mine.

The comeback is not far away, and while everything is going well, something could always go wrong at the last second. She hopes everything goes well, and then we'll see. Nobody knows what will happen or how it will go despite Zverev's belief in a fully successful one.

I've done everything, I feel good, we're right on schedule. But it is too early to make a prediction.
