Iga Swiatek concluded her 2023 season recently and shared some thoughts about the season on social media.
Swiatek has always been quite open with her thoughts, always taking time to look back on events or achievements. Her concluding the season by winning the WTA Finals a few days ago doesn't change any of that.
She started off her message by thanking her team for their support through a very long and grueling season. There were some ups and downs, so it wasn't the smooth sailing it was last year, but it was still a successful one.
What a season that was... I saw, did and learned so much. Before I'll start my much needed vacation, I would like to leave here some words of appreciation, gratitude and some thoughts. I would like to thank my team. I wouldn't be in this place without you. I want to thank everyone who supports me every day through the ups and downs of every season.
Besides thanking her team, Swiatek also took a moment to thank her rivals, calling them amazing women who make her a better player. It was a really nicely written paragraph by Swiatek on her fellow competitors who chased her fiercely the entire year.
And last but not least... I want to thank the amazing women I compete with on tour. Thanks to you, I constantly want to be a better player. Every one of us has our own story and we can tell those stories together through our sport. I'm grateful for you and for this opportunity. The best things happen to us when... we stop chasing them.
It's truly been a really competitive season so expect more of that next year. It's going to be a great one, and it's not that far away. Time flies.
