Jessica Pegula isn't that known in the United Kingdom except for the part which mentions her billionaire father but it's not something she's bothered by.

Jessica Pegula has a very fascinating story. It's not a typical rags-to-riches story because her father is a well-known billionaire who has been involved in sports for a very long time. His ownership of the Buffalo Bills NFL Franchise, as well as the NHL Buffalo Sabres Franchise, is well known in the US, but less so in the United Kingdom.

She's mostly known as the daughter of some billionaire along with the tag of 'World's Richest Tennis Player'. Even so, Pegula worked extremely hard to achieve everything in her career and it's not been an easy road as she didn't have an early major breakout on the WTA Tour, but rather steadily improved over several years to get where she is.

Yeah, I mean, people say that. I personally don't have that money. It's probably my dad or my parents. I don't know why that kind of stuck. I mean, I understand, though. My family obviously is pretty well-known back in America.

The American is having a really strong Wimbledon so far after some disappointing showings on the clay. She hasn't had that much success on the surface in the past but has a chance to become the world's number-one doubles player if she and Gauff win the doubles event.

So far it's been going rather well despite some injury concerns. When it comes to her privileged background, Pegula admitted that ultimately she doesn't care what people think.

Yeah, I mean, it is what it is. I mean, it doesn't really bother me. It would be nice if people didn't say that. But do I really care? I mean, not really. It is what is. But, yeah, I mean, I don't really think it matters how much money you have. Yeah, it would be great to win Wimbledon 'cause then I would also have a lot of money from winning Wimbledon (smiling).
