Despite emerging as a 15-year-old and breaking out as a teenager, Coco Gauff had a lot of naysayers whom she silenced this year.
Ever since Coco Gauff emerged at Wimbledon a few years ago, many predicted her a great future. As it tends to happen with great talents, people expect too much too soon, and when it doesn't happen, the naysayers come out.
Some went as far as suggesting that Gauff would never amount to much, which was obviously wrong. We didn't even have to wait long for Gauff to prove them wrong, as it happened earlier this year when she won the US Open.
According to good friend, Christopher Eubanks, who spoke on Tennis Channel, it came at the perfect time and he was very happy to see her win the trophy.
She has finally proved the naysayers wrong, some said that she would never win a Grand Slam. She's been able to do that, now it's about how many she will get. So there's still going to be outside expectations, there's still going to be people saying that she can never get more than one or the people doubting the validity of the US Open run.
As someone who knows Gauff, Eubanks is sure that she doesn't really care what people say or think. She knows herself very well and works hard to reach her goals.
The US Open was just the start, and she'll keep working hard to reach even bigger heights.
It doesn't matter at this point. In her team and in her mind, she has done what she has done, now let's just continue to enjoy this process let's just continue to put in the work that got her to this point.
She already started preparing for the next year, which could be a huge year for the teenager. An early start shows how serious she is about it.
