Jennifer Brady hasn't been spotted on a tennis court for a long time but the American is targeting a return at the 2023 Roland Garros.
Jennifer Brady's best result ever came at the 2021 Australian Open where she made her way to the final losing to Naomi Osaka. That sentence alone should tell you how long that was considering that Osaka has been away from tennis for quite some due to her pregnancy and this was when she was winning Grand Slam trophies.
Brady competed a bit in 2021 but her final event was the 2021 Cincinnati Masters. She didn't play any tennis after that missing over a full year of action as of now. She's not yet ready to return but in a talk with Rennae Stubbs, Brady confirmed that it's going to happen this year.
My goal is French Open, that's definitely what I'm shooting for. Yeah, I'm out here. You know, I just switched over grinding on the red clay. I mean, I wouldn't say grinding yet, but, just getting the body used to sliding, getting used to a little bit of movement, all that kind of stuff.
There were concerns at times that her injuries would cut short her tennis career but that's not going to happen as Brady was adamant about doing everything she needed to do in order to get back to where she was before the injury.
Stubbs asked her whether she was 100 % ready and while the American didn't want to go too much into depth she did confirm that she was on the right track albeit not 100 % per cent ready right now.
Well today? No! But you know what? We're on a better track than when we spoke last year. I will tell you that. Definitely on the right track. Figuring things out. Definitely not an easy case. That was not an easy case. All kinds of little stuff going on, so yeah, we're in a better place than we were last year. That's for sure.
